A Case Report of Delayed Syphilis Diagnosis in Pregnancy

Aims: To report a case of primary genital syphilis in pregnant woman, which is atypical due to the delayed diagnosis, course disease and emphasize its reasons clinical management.
 Presentation Case: We present primiparous woman G1P0A0 complaining pain growing lesion perineal area. She was misdiagnosed unsuccessfully treated for abscess several times. The diagnosis because negative prenatal test result first trimester. misled doctors into immediately dismissing syphilis. In addition after correct regardless an appropriate treatment with benzathine penicillin G, chancre recurred possibly reinfection during intercourse infected partner.
 Discussion: Diagnosing may be complicated itself. this there were factors that made successful even more difficult. These were: screening, recurrence symptoms treatment.
 Conclusion: With we importance repeat testing if suspected, previous trimester screening sexual partner’s infected.
